Mandy Pellicano Castagna
Principal and Classical Ballet teacher
Mandy Pellicano trained at the Brigitte Gauci Borda School of Ballet. She later progressed by learning the British Ballet Syllabus thanks to the late Ms Christina Hughes.
She was the first Maltese teacher to prepare students for this syllabus. She obtained her teaching qualification by studying at the BBO headquarters in London together with other aspiring teachers internationally and under the auspice of well renowed lecturues in the dance world.
Mandy considers teachers training as an ongoing experience and CPD courses are considered as vital to improve teaching skills. She is also always on the look out for providing ways to improve the level of her students including getting international teachers and providing links and various opportunities.
Mandy also read for a degree in commerce specializing in accounting at the University of Malta. Mandy initially opened her first Dance school in 1998 and has been providing dance classes for the past 20 years. She produced many shows including Rmeo and Juliet at the MCC, Simply Magical at the city Theatre, Sweet as Candy and One World at St Aloysius College.
Her saying is that the teacher’s work is not about teaching the syllabus but adapting teaching according to their physique and mental state.
